Anne Gee Byrd - Following her own dream!
Anne Gee Byrd grew up a cowgirl in Ohio and was introduced to acting at the University of Toledo playing straight woman to the comic ingenue. She married David Byrd at the Erie Playhouse and had seven years working, mostly together, in repertory theatres in the east. "We noticed that many of the best roles were going to what we then arrogantly referred to as 'half assed television stars' so we decided to come to L.A. and become same", She told us.
Once there, she admitted, "we very quickly learned some humility and tremendous respect for any actor who could be even credible let alone good under the conditions of shooting most any television show".
She has had a varied career switching back and forth between television, film, and stage work. Some of her Film credits include work on Pol Crutchen's "Boys on The Run", Ron Logomarsino's "Running Mates" and Joel Shumacher's "Eight Millimeter". Her many TV credits include most of the top rated Network and Cable Shows over the past couple of decades.
Not long ago she had her musical debut in a Gilbert and Sullivan piece which led to an original "playsical" by David and Ain Gordon called "First Picture Show" and then had the joy of playing Annie Maguire on Steven Bocho's "Philly". A few of her subsequent Television roles include: "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Cold Case", "Monk", "Medium", "Southland", "The Mentalist", and "Rake", followed by "Murder in the First", "Shameless", and "How to Get Away with Murder". And on the big screen: "Zero Charisma", "I Am I", "Wild", and "And Then There Was Eve", and the upcoming "Three", with Tom Bower (see trailer below).
Regretfully Anne's husband David Byrd, who had also amassed quite a respectible career as a "Working Actor" himself, passed away in early 2001, however Anne Gee continues her work and as we later discovered was even learning to tap dance. Much of her work these days in addition to TV and film is through her long association with the Antaeus Theater Company in L.A.
Play the part you've been cast in, audition for the part that's available, but make sure the dream you are following is your own!
